The “New Directions in Karaim Derivational Morphology” event was held.

Within the scope of the event organized by the Department of Contemporary Turkish Dialects and Literatures at Bartın University (BARÜ), current approaches to the derivational morphology of Karaim were discussed.

Anita András, a PhD candidate at the Department of Linguistics and Philology at Uppsala University (Sweden), met with participants through her presentation titled “New Directions in Karaim Derivational Morphology.” The presentation focused on the derivational structural features, morphological processes, and emerging research directions of Karaim, which occupies a distinctive position among the Turkic languages.

The event, held at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, 1st Floor Seminar Hall, attracted significant interest from undergraduate and graduate students as well as academics. Within the scope of the event, the presentations addressed a comprehensive analysis of deverbal derivational suffixes in Karaim, corpus-based and semantically oriented approaches, as well as diachronic and comparative perspectives.
