The “Hıdırellez Event” organized by the Department of Contemporary Turkish Dialects and Literatures was held with the active participation of our students and academic staff. Organized with the aim of introducing and preserving the Hıdırellez tradition, one of the cultural heritages of the Turks, the event included both educational and social activities.
As part of the event, a conference on the place of Hıdırellez in Turkish culture and its historical background was delivered by Assist. Prof. Naz Penah Arslan. During the conference, which attracted considerable interest from the students, the significance of the Hıdırellez tradition in cultural memory was emphasized.
Within the scope of the program, students experienced both enjoyable and educational moments through a quiz competition, while the wish-making activity, one of the traditional Hıdırellez rituals, also received great attention from the participants. Throughout the event, students had the opportunity to become more familiar with cultural values and strengthen their social interaction.
The event organized by our department made a significant contribution to preserving Turkish culture and increasing cultural awareness among students. We would like to thank all our academic staff and students who contributed to the event.
